This product is intended as a resource to aid in the implementation of Squad 9 L.L.C.’s system of threat assessment and mitigation. It is based upon three primary foundations.

First, the training provided to the authors by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) was the basis for our analysis. Thanks to the professionals at BAU for giving the latest tools to agents in the field.

Second, the FBI publication, Making Prevention a Reality, (n.d.), 2015, available for download at https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/making- prevention-a-reality.pdf/view. Documenting the results of the 2015 symposium on targeted violence prevention, this book gathers the combined experience of experts from a variety of fields and serves as the foundation for our Targeted Violence Prevention system.

And finally, the authors’ combined decades of experience in threat assessment with both the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), and Rochester Threat Advisory Committee.
